The investment management activities of Grindrod Bank are housed in Grindrod Asset Management. These comprise three main areas of activity: Private Clients, Institutional Fund Management and Investment Products.
The investment strategy of Grindrod Asset Management is driven by rigorous and structured investment research. An experienced Asset Management Investment Committee (AMICO) chaired by Tony Norton, a past president of the JSE, is responsible for a systematic, value-driven investment process determining overall investment strategy and guidelines, monitoring performance against appropriate benchmarks and the management of risk.
A Chief Investment Officer guides and monitors the investment process and ensures that the investment strategy and ideas are implemented by the individual fund managers.

KEY PERSONNEL
Mark Logan (B. Comm Hons) is Head of Grindrod Asset Management and a senior portfolio manager in Grindrod Private Clients and brings a wealth of experience in investment management and private banking gained at Fincorp, BoE Private Bank, Marriott Asset Management and Grindrod Private Clients.
Ian Anderson (B Com; CFA) is the Chief Investment Officer and was previously Investment Director at Marriott Asset Management, where his responsibilities included managing the Marriott International Real Estate Fund, the Marriott International Growth Fund and managing Marriott’s institutional South African listed property mandates. Ian was a director of the Investment Managers’ Association of South Africa (IMASA) and has consulted extensively to various players in the South African listed property sector, including the Property Loan Stock Association of South Africa (PLSA).
Chantal Porter (B.Soc.Sc. LLB) is head of Compliance for Grindrod Bank and has overall responsibility for ensuring the Bank complies with the relevant statutory, regulatory and supervisory requirements. Prior to joining Grindrod Bank, Chantal was the Regional Manager, Legal and Compliance, for FNB Corporate.
